I'm tattood, slightly quirky, but relatively sane and rational (for a bleeder, anyway)... textbook Virgo, perpetual student, sheet snob, wanderer, sphynx lover (specifically, mine, pipistrello), avid consumer of books, pescatarian, mother of 2 spawn (8 & 12... met quota and terminated the repro factory, thnx), catholic-in-training, engaged to a Parisian-dwelling heart-thief... occasionally spotted at goth/industrial clubs doing shots, or at bookstores by myself drinking iced espresso with soy, reading useless information about the Knights Templar or matristic religion in ancient civilizations... enjoy seeing indie movies, going out to breakfast on the weekends with the kids, outdoor events, camping, time with friends and family, and spontaneous pilgrimages to the ocean... love a wide variety of synth, industrial, old skool goth, classic rock, hair bands, classical, and pretty much anything else that catches my ear... grew up on the back of a Harley and I rediscovered I miss it terribly, and want to learn to ride... love rollercoasters and traveling, but get to do both far too infrequently.
Spent 10 years as a full time cube dweller in the mortgage industry (despite my lack of love for numbers) until a declining economy presented a brick wall, so I took a year and applied all those college courses I'd taken over the years to fill the intellectual void towards a 2 year humanities degree. I'm told we're put here to do what makes us happy... to invest our time and effort into things that we love... so I'm working more solidly toward a bachelors and then masters. At the moment, I'm a History and Anthropology double major, with an Art history minor and a consuming interest in the Ancient World. The masters concentrations I'm interested in pursuing are Public History & Museums, with Archaeology as a possibility. I'd love to someday work with the libraries, catalogs and artifacts at a national museum. I've been accused of, and admired for, setting goals and pursuing them with single-minded determination. Patience is not my virtue, but I've learned enough to get by.
Lived in New Orleans, Orlando, Denver, Anaheim, etc and made the roadtrip from Orange County California to Orange County Florida. I love to visit new places... and once my children are grown I hope to fully indulge my affair with the open road. I'm making my first trip over the great pond soon (to Italy), and it's one of my greatest desires to travel Europe extensively. I wouldn't mind living in Ireland, Italy or Greece someday.
"The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.."
~St. Augustine
"Serenity is not freedom from the storm, but peace amid the storm."
"Out of life's school of war: What does not destroy me, makes me stronger."
~Nietzsche, "The Twilight of the Idols"
"Her changing changes never take a rest;
necessity keeps her in constant motion,
as men come and go and take their turn with her.
And this is she so crucified and cursed;
...
But she is blest and in her bliss hears nothing..."
~Dante, "The Inferno"
"We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force."
~Ayn Rand
"New Ten Commandments" (as cited in The GOD Delusion, and by atheists on the interwebz)
1. Do not do to others what you would not want them to do to you.
2. In all things, strive to cause no harm.
3. Treat your fellow human beings, your fellow living things, and the world in general with love, honesty, faithfulness and respect.
4. Do not overlook evil or shrink from administering justice, but always be ready to forgive wrongdoing freely admitted and honestly regretted.
5. Live life with a sense of joy and wonder.
6. Always seek to be learning something new.
7. Test all things; always check your ideas against the facts, and be ready to discard even a cherished belief if it does not conform to them.
8. Never seek to censor or cut yourself off from dissent; always respect the right of others to disagree with you.
9. Form independent opinions on the basis of your own reason and experience; do not allow yourself to be led blindly by others.
10. Question everything.
Additionally, Dawkins amended with the following:
11. Enjoy your own sex life (so long as it damages nobody else) and leave others to enjoy theirs in private whatever their inclinations, which are none of your business.
12. Do not discriminate or oppress on the basis of sex, race or (as far as possible) species.
13. Do not indoctrinate your children. Teach them how to think for themselves, how to evaluate evidence, and how to disagree with you.
14. Value the future on a timescale longer than your own.

RULES FOR LIFE:
1. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
2. When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.
3. Follow the three R’s: Respect for self, Respect for others, and Responsibility for all your actions.
4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
6. Don’t let a little dispute injure a great relationship.
7. When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
8. Spend some time alone every day.
9. Open arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.
10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
11. Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a Second time.
